Which format should I use for the web?
WebP usually gives the smallest files for photos and graphics and is supported by all modern browsers. Use JPEG for maximum compatibility and PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency.
What quality setting should I choose?
A quality of 70–80 is a good balance for photos: files are much smaller and the difference is hard to see. Lower values save more space at the cost of visible artefacts.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are decoded, resized and encoded locally in your browser using WebAssembly and the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server.
